Dr. Cottle is a native of Boise, Idaho.  He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Brigham Young University in 2004.  He then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, graduating with Honors in 2008. He also received the Student Achievement Award in Endodontics, presented to an undergraduate dental student who has demonstrated an above-average skill level in endodontics.

Following dental school he practiced as a General Dentist for two years in Johnston and Wayne counties. In 2010 he continued his education with specialty training in Endodontics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he served as the Chief Resident during his second year.  After completion of this two year Endodontic residency, he returned to Johnston County to open Clayton Endodontics.

Dr. Cottle is a Diplomate in the American Board of Endodontics, which means he has become a Board Certified Endodontist. Board certification in endodontics is a voluntary, rigorous, three-part process managed by the American Board of Endodontics, signifying the highest level of expertise and dedication to the specialty. Only about 20-30% of endodontists become Diplomates, having passed written exams, submitted a diverse portfolio of clinical cases, and completed an oral exam.

He and his wife, Jaime, are the proud parents of five children. When Dr. Cottle isn't in the office, he loves to run on the local greenways, spend time with his family, and participate in his local church congregation.
